Want to know how to make a dog shirt without sewing? We’ve made this tutorial on an easy pet project on how you can make DIY dog clothes no sew (shirts sweaters jackets and more..) for your beloved pets, to keep them warm, fashionable and to save some cash.
It’s pretty easy to make, and works for cats too! All you need is a human’s sweater and a pair of scissors, so this is a now sew DIY, if you have a big dog (German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Doberman..) this may not work out for you because it will not fit in him, unless you are able to find a really big human sweater. So this DIY is mostly for small to medium sized dog breeds, such as French Bulldog, Beagle, Dachshund, Pug and Yorkshire Terrier. Grab your dog, grab your sweater and grab you scissors and let’s get started!
Step 1
Take your old sweater, take the sleeve and cut it out with your scissors from the shoulder part.
Step 2
Measure the sleeve against your dog’s neck so you know where to cut the hole for their head to fit in, you can use tape measure for this part or you can just measure the sleeve against their neck.
After that you are going to cut from the sleeve side you just measured.
Step 3
Next you are going to put the sweater over to what would be their bottom side, so where the belly would be at and you are going to draw 2 half circles on each side (for their legs) and then proceed to cutting them out.
Step 4
Next you are going to draw another big half circle or U-shape where their belly section would be at and cut it out, this part is especially important if you have male dogs because you don’t want them to wet their shirt when they go number one.
Step 5
For the final step you fold the sweater in half from the long way and draw another half circle of sort U-shape and cut it out, this is just to even the edges so that it wouldn’t look like sort of square sweater.
Step 6
Finally for the last step fold back the neck to create a cute little collar and voila your doggy sweater is done!
